Defiant to the Last | Nixon Newell in WhatCulture Pro Wrestling

Nixon Newell competed regularly for British independent promotion WhatCulture Pro Wrestling from 2016 to 2017. In her debut match for the promotion, Nixon defeated Bea Priestley (8:58) in the first-ever women’s match in WCPW that streamed on Loaded #5 on August 8, 2016 from O2 Academy in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, UK. They would rematch on Loaded #7 on August 22, 2016 from the same location with Bea picking up the win over Nixon (6:02). A post-match scuffle resulted in a historic announcement made.

The announcement was that Nixon would face Bea in a Last Woman Standing Match to crown the first-ever WCPW Women’s Champion. The match took place at WCPW Stacked 2016 which took place on August 24, 2016 from O2 Academy in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, UK. Nixon became the first-ever WCPW Women’s Champion defeating Bea (6:58) in a wild plunder match.

Nixon’s rivalry with Bea would continue in a tag team match on Loaded #9 streamed on September 17, 2016 from the same location as all the previous WCPW action. Bea teamed with long-time Nixon rival Alex Windsor to defeat Newell and Little Miss Roxxy (7:10). The first stretch of 02 action commenced with Nixon successfully defending the WCPW Women’s Title for the first time in an open challenge three way against Alex Windsor and European legend Katarina Leigh (4:30) on Loaded #11 streamed on October 1, 2016.

The next WCPW rivalry for Nixon was against longtime independent wrestler Kimber Lee. Nixon successfully defended the title against Kimber (6:54) at WCPW Refuse to Lose 2016 on October 6, 2016 from Northumbria University Students' Union at Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, UK. Their rivalry would escalate in a Street Fight with pro wrestling legend Melina as the special guest referee. Even though Nixon had teamed up with Melina twice in SWE just a few days prior, Melina would remain an unbiased official.

The Street Fight took place at WCPW True Legacy 2016 on October 8, 2016 at Silver Blades Altrincham in Manchester, England, UK. Newell and Kimber brawled all over the venue floor, even chugging beers to see who could hold down more. Newell defeated Kimber (8:48) following a stunner and The Welsh Destroyer. Nixon offered Kimber a handshake after. Kimber refused. Melina fended off an attack by Kimber, crushing her with her legendary splits leg drop. Before taking their leave, Nixon and Melina shared a moment.

Bea Priestley would reignite her rivalry with Nixon, aligning with The Swords of Essex to defeat Nixon and Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) at WCPW Delete WCPW on November 30, 2016 from Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, UK. Priestley earned another shot at the title, losing by disqualification to Nixon (2:20) on Loaded #18 streamed on December 17, 2016 from O2 Academy in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, UK.

In her final appearances for WCPW, Nixon faced Bea two more times. The first saw Nixon retain the title defeating Bea (6:18) at WCPW True Destiny 2017 at Planet Ice in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England, UK on February 12, 2017. Their WCPW finale would see Nixon’s frenemy Viper assist Bea in defeating Newell (6:14) to win the title in a No Disqualification Match on Loaded #24 streamed on February 27, 2017 from O2 Academy Leicester in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, UK.
