March 3, 2025. Buffalo, New York. KeyBank Center. WWE Monday Night RAW. Dakota Kai accompanied her Damage CTRL sister IYO SKY into the venue on the afternoon of SKY’s Women’s World Championship Match against champion Rhea Ripley. The Eradicator had gifted SKY this title match after as-inadvertently-as-it-was screwing IYO out of winning an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match. Ripley had never defeated SKY in a singles match. A trend that continued following their championship match in Buffalo.
Dakota took a loss to Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria on Monday Night RAW February 24, 2025. But as Dakota told Cathy Kelley during a backstage interview prior to SKY vs. Ripley, her own quest for championship gold is far from over. But before she will pursue gold, she has some unfinished business with Ivy Nile who blindsided her after Kai’s match with Lyra. Out of respect for Lyra, Kai didn’t intervene in Lyra’s defense against Nile, but now that Valkyria has defeated Ivy, Dakota has Ivy then Lyra in her sights.
Bianca Belair won the 2025 Women’s Elimination Chamber Match, therefore will face the Women’s World Champion at WrestleMania 41. The EST sat ringside to watch SKY challenge Ripley. SKY gave respect to all three of her Damage CTRL sisters during the match with a Kaio-Kick for Kai, a flying elbow for Kairi Sane and the Asuka lock for The Living Legend. They weren’t at ringside, yet were still with SKY in heart and battle.
Rhea took offense to Bianca rallying SKY to return to the ring before a ten count. Ripley assumed Bianca didn’t want to face her in a match both had previously called a WrestleMania dream match. Rhea arrogantly shouted at Bianca that she’d see her at WrestleMania 41 while standing on the ropes to avalanche Riptide SKY. Ripley’s arrogance cost her. IYO countered with a hurracarrana. Over the Moonsault. 1-2-3. And new Women’s World Champion IYO SKY.
Ripley likes to think she’s untouchable. But on this night, for as great as The Eradicator is, Rhea got a necessary dose of humility. SKY must now turn her focus to defending the title against Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 41, reigniting a rivalry that goes back to SKY’s main roster debut at SummerSlam 2022. Not to forget the battles they had the years prior in NXT.
Dakota embraced and congratulated IYO in a post-match RAW Digital Exclusive. As for King Kota’s path to WrestleMania 41, that remains unknown. But with the Women’s Intercontinental Championship still in her sights, Dakota certainly has that potential journey down the proverbial golden brick road to WrestleMania 41. It would be quite a sight to see Dakota Kai win her first singles championship at WrestleMania.
