That Old Familiar Foe

NXT on September 16, 2020. It had been a week since A Dinner at the Garganos. Candice LeRae said she had changed but for the better -- despite that being the farthest thing from reality. But Candice and Johnny weren't based in reality anymore. Nox had accepted the fact that Candice didn't want to reconcile with her -- she just wanted her to be a lackey to do her dirty work. As painful as it was she had accepted their friendship was for the time being as dead as her's with Dakota Kai.

There would be a battle royal on the September 23rd episode of NXT to decide who would face Io Shirai for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver 31. Candice proclaimed she was going to win but Nox disagreed. Tegan was going to win and her favorite part was going to be the look on "the little pouches" face when she was number one contender and not her.

Nox didn't mince her words about Candice. Nor did she about Io Shirai. The Girl With The Shiniest Wizard said with a new fire and confidence in her voice that this time everything would be different when she faced Shirai. It would appear Tegan Nox had found a new way of her own.

Unfortunately, Nox would not be able to compete in the battle royal. Prior to it, Candice would attack her backstage, ramming an equipment cart into her surgically repaired knees. This attack would not only take Nox out of the battle royal, it was announced she would be out of action indefinitely. The attack by Candice was part of the story. But it was to explain that in real life Steffanie Newell had suffered another torn ACL. Yet again it would be a road to recovery.
