Tegan Nox had been cleared to return to the ring following her second knee injury. She worked a series of house show matches during the summer to shake of the proverbial ring rust. Before she joined up with her bestie Dakota Kai on NXT Prime, Nox warmed up with a brief run in NXT UK. Her first appearance would be as part of the audience at WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff on August 31, 2019. The brand would then hold their post TakeOver: Cardiff tapings in Wales where Tegan is from. She would see action twice in front of her homeland crowd.

Nox's first opponent in NXT UK in a match taped for WWE NXT UK September 11, 2019 was Shax who refused Tegan's handshake, instead slapping her across the face. Nox made quick work of Shax with a series of moves ending with a Shiniest Wizard and pin.

Newly crowned NXT UK Women's Champion Kay Lee Ray wasn't thrilled that the spotlight wasn't on her following her title victory over Toni Storm. Rather people were talking about Tegan making an appearance at TakeOver prior to the title match. KLR came out to express her grief to Tegan, warning her that if she stood in her spotlight again she'd do the same thing to her she did to Toni. Tegan fired back that if she wanted a fight she was ready anytime, anywhere. The challenge was made and a week later KLR accepted, however the title wouldn't be on the line.
