Tegan Nox had been out of action since sustaining an injury during her October 17, 2023 match against Lyra Valkyria on NXT. The Welsh Dragon returned to her perch on the red brand a participant in the #1 Contender Battle Royal to decide who will challenge Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley at Survivor Series on November 25, 2023. In a battle royal, a person is eliminated when they are thrown over the top rope and both feet hit the floor.
The field of competitors: Tegan Nox, Ivy Nile, WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green & Piper Niven, Natalya, Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark, Indi Hartwell, Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, Maxxine Dupri, Nikki Cross, Raquel Rodriguez and Nia Jax. Former NXT Women's Champion Becky Lynch and Xia Li were set to compete. But Xia struck Becky down with a roundhouse kick during The Man's entrance and it was determined Lynch couldn't compete. RAW General Manager Adam Pearce removed Xia from competition as punishment.
Tegan scored an impressive elimination in the early going, sending Piper over the top rope to the floor while Maxxine had Niven tied up in an arm bar. The battle royal pressed on with Tegan fighting off anyone in her path of victory including Indi Hartwell, Shayna Baszler and Raquel Rodriguez. Tegan smacked her annoying rival Chelsea Green good with a headbutt. Nox even staggered Nia with a charging rolling uppercut. Unfortunately Nia grabbed Tegan off another charge, sat her on the top rope, caught a last-ditch kick and pie-faced her to the floor scoring an elimination.
Nox will have a chance to rebound from this loss on the November 13, 2023 episode of Monday Night RAW when she faces Piper Niven. Prior to coming to WWE, Nox and Niven had six matches spread across SWE, Shimmer, Stardom, CHIKARA and HOPE. Their first match against each other in WWE will be their biggest yet as WWE.COM revealed Nox will earn herself a future WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match if she can defeat Niven.
Tegan was interviewed on RAW Talk. She made it clear she's ready for "Big Bruiser" Piper Niven and to eventually get the chance to shut Chelsea up. The best of all, Tegan pointed out that Chelsea fantastically had lipstick on her teeth, no doubt from when Tegan smashed her annoying mouth with that let's call it a HELLBUTT.
